Wind and Truth – Day Three Review

Wind and Truth, Europe and America covers

Day three isn’t too long, not much more than 80 pages! It focuses on the male perspectives, which, unfortunately for me meant a lot of Szeth.

This was my least favourite Day so far, but we’re only a third of the way through the book so there’s a lot to see yet.

Szeth in Wind and Truth Day 3

It seems like a lot of Wind and Truth will focus on Szeth’s childhood and the Shin people.

While I am interested in the Shin people, I just can’t get behind Szeth’s story, and that hasn’t changed in Day 3. I think if it hasn’t changed by now, I’m unlikely to be swayed by future chapters.

His fight vs Rit, the honorblade wielder, was expertly written, however. This was a stunning description that was truly exciting. A highlight of Day 3, that’s for sure.

Kaladin in Wind and Truth Day 3

His chapters are focused on Szeth. That’s all I can really say on the matter. I don’t connect much with the Szeth-focused content.

Adolin in Wind and Truth Day 3

Adolin was another significant POV in Day 3. He’s always a ray of sunshine, but these chapters didn’t move me as much as Adolin’s presence usually succeeds to.

This could be because it feels that nothing much ‘new’ occurs in this section. Adolin’s character doesn’t feel greatly tested. If anything, Maya—Adolin’s sword—is the star of his sections.

With Maya’s growth and final absence, perhaps we’ll see more interesting perspectives from Adolin in later chapters, as the situation is Azimir inevitably strained.

As a side note, I mentioned in my Wind and Truth Day 2 review that I expected that Colot might have turned into a spy for any force working against Dalinar, based on how Dalinar treated him, but after Day 3 im hopeful that I’m wrong, or that Adolin will have at least brought Colot back into the light.

Final thoughts

I’m very keen to return to the ladies’ perspectives! Onwards, to Day 4!
